Using the Kea Coloring Parent Tools

The Kea Coloring Book comes with a Parent Tools program (which is also FREE).

To make sure that the Coloring Book itself stays as easy to use as possible we have kept all the settings and configuration aside in the Parent Tools program.  But there's more to it that just a few settings.

Starting the Kea Coloring Book Parent Tools

From the [Start] button in windows, click on Programs > Kea Coloring > Parent Tools.

The Menu

Like many well-known Windows applications, the Parent Tools has a set of drop-down menus along the top of the screen.

File Menu

New: Create a new coloring in picture file.

Open: Open an existing coloring in picture file.

Save: Save the current file.

Save as: Save the file with a new name.

Close: Close the current file.

Properties: Set properties - Title, Author and Description.

Import graphic file: Import a graphic file to use for coloring in.

Convert: Convert the imported picture to make it suitable for coloring in (i.e. Only black outlines and white areas to color in).

Export to: Export the coloring in picture to either a BMP or GIF format.

Exit: Close the Parent Tools.

Edit Menu

Copy: Copy the current picture onto the clipboard.

Paste: Paste a picture from the clipboard into the picture area.

Undo: Undo the last thing done to the picture.

Options Menu

Kea Coloring options: Set basic options of the Kea Coloring Book as well as the paths where files are kept.

Select Theme...: Select a Theme for the Coloring Book.  This also allows you to choose the screen resolution that the Coloring Book uses.

Conversion options: Set the conversion threshold and whether or not to get the setting each time before converting.

Catalog Menu

Edit catalog: Move files to and from the catalog and change their order.

Palettes Menu

Edit palettes: Copy, create, edit, rename, move, delete and adjust the colors in the palettes.
