Stay tuned (15 July 2008)

The Kea Coloring Book has been what some would call a "labour of love". It has been developed and maintained without ever making even a hint of a profit, and actually loses money every year. Still we do love hearing from people with great stories of how much kids or grandkids love it, or even how much they love it themselves.

We are still putting up a few new pictures, and do have some ideas for improving the Coloring Book, and will also soon be running another one of our famous coloring competitions.

The other thing we have in the works is a brand new product. We can't tell you too much just yet, but we know it is going to be even more popular that the Coloring Book itself. So stay tuned.

Sort pictures by date (17 February 2007)

Our burgeoning catalog has now passed 250 FREE pictures for you to download!  With so many available it's hard to keep track of what you have and haven't downloaded yet.  To make it easier we've now added a sorting feature to the catalog to allow you to sort by Title or by Date Added.  When sorted by date, the most recent pictures are at the top.

Our special thanks go out to Clark Wagner, who has generously created a number of fantastic pictures for you to color in.

Christmas 2006 Coloring Competition WINNERS announced (14 January 2007)

Our thanks go out to everyone who entered.  We had so many beautiful entries for our Christmas coloring competition, it was a hard job for our judges to choose just three from each age group!  Congratulations to all our winners, whose entries are on display on the Competitions page.

Version 3.6 (21 November 2006)

We now ship with 20 free coloring in pages, and we've also got over 200 to download!  The coloring book now "remembers" which page you were on, and there's other little fixes that will help out some of our users running on older hardware, as well as improvements for those running the latest and greatest.

We now have over 200 free pictures available for you to download!

Version 3.5 - Run in Window (30 January 2006)

With ever increasing screen sizes and resolutions, some users dislike the way the Kea Coloring Book switches to 1024x768.  To make this nicer we now offer the option of showing the coloring book in a window.  In the future we also plan to cater for the larger screen resolutions with updated themes and new higher resolution pictures.

We've also fixed a number of minor bugs that related to specific machine configurations.

Version 3.4 (23 November 2005)

With an increasing number of users running on Windows XP we have found that certain settings interfered with the way the color palette was drawn.  This is now fixed in version 3.4.

Version 3.3 (1 November 2005)

Most of our users LOVE the new Oops button, but on older machines with limited memory this has been known to cause problems.  This version allows you to reduce the number of steps that Oops can go back.

We've also introduced enhanced bug reporting.  No software is perfect, so in the rare cases where there is a problem, you can now send us a detailed report that allows us to track down and fix those problems.

Version 3.2 includes the Minimus theme for older computers

We've had a number of requests from users to be able to color more pictures when using 800x600 resolution.  Version 3.2 includes a new theme just for this.  All the buttons etc have been made smaller to use up the minimum space, providing the Maximum coloring area!

NEW "Oops" button plus Parents' Password - Version 3.1 (20 September 2005)

oopsWith version 3.0 we gave kids some cool new tools to unleash their creativity, but a misplaced click could end in tears, so now we've added an "Oops" button.

The "Oops" (or Undo) button allows you to go back several steps.  Even if you completely wash the picture clean, you can still "Oops", and all the beautiful colors are instantly back.

We've also added a "Parents' Password" feature, which allows you to set a password for the "Print" and "Save" functions.  We've heard stories of kids pressing the "Print" button every time the change a color!  Using up reams of paper, and filling up your hard-drive with saved pictures, may not be desirable.  Still you have to love their enthusiasm!

Version 3.0 is here (Updated 28 July 2005)

The much anticipated Kea Coloring Book version 3.0 has arrived.

The new version includes some cool new brushes for freeform painting.

The paint-bucket replaces the old brush to allow filling a whole area.

The freeform brush allows you to paint just like a paint brush.

The magic brush does the same but magically stays within the lines!

There's also a marker pen and eraser that let you change the usually permanent black lines of the picture.

The width of the brushes, marker pen and eraser can all be changed from really thin to totally fat.

Version 3.0 will knock your socks off! (16 June 2005)

Version 3 is due for release in July, with new features that will unleash your child's creativity.  We know you will absolutely love this new version, so don't forget to check back soon.

We've also put up a few new pictures to keep you going.
